JJ Martyn

J.J. Martyn is a printmaker and mixed media artist specializing in house portraiture, printmaking, and textiles. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Printmaking and Photography from Mount Allison University in New Brunswick.

Since moving to Sutton in 2021, J.J. has rekindled her passion for printmaking, creating works using lino block, dry-point etching, collagraph, and Gelli printing techniques. She emphasizes sustainability through upcycled materials and repurposed tools, making the art form both eco-conscious and accessible.

To balance the involved nature of her printmaking, J.J. practices meditative stitching within her textile works and paints unique house portraits that capture the spirit of home. Her art, inspired by daily experiences, family, and world travels, is featured in private collections across Canada, the U.S., and Europe.

As an instructor at the Georgina Centre for Arts and Culture (GCAC), J.J. encourages artists to “Make their Mark.” In 2023, she served as an Artist-in-Residence at GCAC, where her work remains on display within the gallery shop. Recent exhibitions include Y Space Georgina, the Georgina Studio Tour, and GCAC Members’ Juried Exhibitions.
